Baptist Church Extension
Project type
Community Re-use
Date
2025
Location
London
The project presented a unique opportunity to connect the church with a newly developed civic square opposite. The single-storey extension creates a new main entrance into the space and acts as a focal point, offering an improved interface with the public realm. Light wood tones internally and natural stone externally carefully intersect the existing traditional vernacular with modern Architecture. The scheme also delivers upgraded circulation in and around the main hall, a set of communal washroom facilities, and a kitchen and servery to cater to guests entering the space. The proposal also features a disabled access ramp and full-height glazing to maximise daylight into the main foyer.
